My Year in Pictures and Blurbs!

Nothing to Disclose

So this is my year! I admit, it wasn't very interesting.  Lots of illness and other drama and I'm happy to see it over.  However there were a few bright spots!   2014 has so many possibilities, many big things happening!

Challenge Accepted: Week 4!

Nothing to Disclose

Sorry this is so late!

Holy Moley?! is it week 4 already?!  Yes.  It is, and yes, I had a boring week.  So boring in fact that I didnt even number these since it didn't matter.  I wore the Revlon powder for 4 days..  Christmas Eve was the Naked3 Palette.  I finally broke it in , and yes, its gorg, and yes I'll post swatches! (stop rushing me!).  I admit, I also took a break one day. YES Technically I broke the rules.  But it was Christmas day, and I wanted to give my face a break.

Birthday Gift to myself! Stila in the Light Palette!

Nothing to Disclose
While my cousin Kait enables my neutral loving tendencies, my friend Victoria does not.  She calls me out on the fact I wear the same shades all the time.  Hey!  I like to shake it up a bit!  I've been known to rock a bright eyeliner or two in my day!  However, more often then not, I rock the neutral shadows. I cant help it.  As a birthday gift to myself I got the Stila In the Light Palette.  I'd heard so many good things about this palette, I couldnt resist, and I'm so happy I picked it up!

Notd with Loreal's Sexy in Sequins from Loreals Gold Dust Coll.

Nothing to Disclose

(blurry to show the sparkle)

I freaking love the formula of these polishes!!  You would never guess that they were texture polishes until you applied them to your nails.  Unlike the random Sinful one I picked up, which was thick and goopy, this was nice and smooth.  The most perfect consistency.  I had no streaking or pooling, and my nails dried super fast.  I'm in love!

What I've been up to this month!

Nothing to Disclose

So..A while back I made another blog and it was all personal and (I think) hilerious.  However, running two blogs (and starting all over..) was only fun for a second.  So.  I'n an effort to make this blog more personal..I'd like to start doing "Weeks in Review!" or "What I've been up to this week!"  Something to break the monotony of makeup makeup makeup...  Since the month is already pretty much over here's what I've been up to this month!

As you can see it snowed here!
(Snow makes me feel like this in case youre wondering..)

(Thats Merida in case you're not a disney fan)

So yes!  It snowed!  I totally rocked a red lip on the 2nd snowstorm (we had 2 in the span of a week!) , and I did it just for me, then my daughter went insane.  She loved it! ("Momma..your lips are so red!") She also had her first snow day .  She loves snow like me and went "I get to stay HOME when it SNOWS?"  With her eyes all wide.  She loved it.  Snowballs and fun galore!  Snow (when you're not driving in it) makes you feel like a kid!

We also decorated the tree, and the rest of our place in preparation for Santa.  N totally gets it now, and its so much fun to be like "Santa..did you hear that?!"  All parents blackmail their kids in December.  Dont judge me.  Do you how much it costs to make a childs Christmas list come true?!

We also went to our very first parent-teacher conference (thats the tree lit up on the bottom left).  N's doing awesomely in school (pat pat), and i thought the tree in front of the library was so pretty next to the moon.  It was great.

Last but not least..who doesn't love homemade stuff? N made the gingerbread house and the snowman ornament.  The Gingerbread house was awesome until she ate some and I guess something in it had coconut, because she was coughing all night (shes allergic to nuts like her father...).  The snowman ornament is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.  I really hope it doesnt break..

So thats my month so far!  What do you think? Collage?  Single photos?  Like the idea? Hate it?  let me know!

Challenge Accepted : Week 3!

Nothing to Disclose

As you see this week, I went for quick and easy.

*#2 is Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Hot.  It was a snow day (and it literelly snowed ALL day), so I though a red lip was appropriate.  I got so many compliments when I wore it, that I may just have to whip it out again!

*#5 & 7 : The eyehshadow is Jane Acacia.  I'm loving it so far!

To thats it! It was a quick post, and I went for quick and easy.  I'm giving my eyes a break a bit!

Updated my disclosure policy & new buttons!

(yes, this is Flynn Rider from Tangled..)

Hi!

This is just a quick post on letting you know I updated my disclosure policy, and I'm using new buttons.  According to the FTC we as bloggers need to disclose clearly things that we get as samples, or purchase on our own, and it needs to be at the top of the page.  For the past few months I'd been using buttons I made myself.  Simple.  Except due to the layout I have it takes up a lot of space.  So , instead I made little link buttons that will link to my disclosure page.

This is what they look like: Nothing to Disclose Sephora Sample

So thats all!  If I've got "Nothing to disclose" that means I've purchased it myself.  If its a sample from Sephora (or anywhere else, or a gift) , it will be labeled.  Thanks!

Challenge Accepted: Week 2

Hello all! Welcome to week 2 of my challenge! I cant believe it.  Two whole weeks wearing something cosmetic? This is a record for me. To sum up the challenge, my friend Victora suggested (more then once) that I should wear makeup every day.  I took that as a challenge.  What can I say? I'm like that. (check out my "Challenge Accepted" post here).

So what did I wear this week?

Review & Swatches! New Revlon Shadow Link in Taupe!

Hello all! Time for another review!

Today I'm reviewing one of Revlon's new eyeshadows.  It's a Shadowlink.  I unfortunately don't have a picture of the display (Nouveau Cheap does here though).  The idea behind this is that you pick 2,3,4...shadows and link them together to create your own palette.  I would have loved to pick up more then one, but the display I found in Ulta was already picked over.

So lets get to it!

Pantones' Color of the Year 2014!

Can you believe we're talking about 2014 already?!  Time flew!  Before I started blogging I had no idea what Pantone was and what they had to do with colors or cosmetics.  Apparently they are the "color authority" (my words..not theirs..) , and the annual "Color of the Year" influences fashion , cosmetics..etc (thanks wikipedia!).

So what is Pantones Color of the Year for 2014?  Well its..

Challenge Accepted: Week One: 11/28-12/5

Makeup I wore Thursday 11/28-Thursday 12/5!

(11/28-12/1)

(12/2-12/5)

So here it is! My first week (and a day) worth of "What Makeup I wore" .  First I'd like to say.."In your face Makeup Junkie! I made it a week!" .  I'm not going to lie.  It was hard, and as you see I had lazy days. For me, Victoria said to "wear makeup everyday" , not necessarily a "full face of makeup every day".  So blush counts! Also in my defense, I was totally battling a cold, and now a sinus infection.  Its been a never ending week of  a runny nose and sneezing.    But all in all , I actually felt better about myself this week.  Even with just wearing blush, I felt put together and non shluby.

My favorite look was definitely Thanksgiving (#1).  The Sephora eyeshadow with the matte brown in the crease, it looked all subtle and smokey ( I did forget to include the brown eyeliner tho..oops).  You all are also getting an inside peek into what I'm testing (hint Revlon, hint..).

 On to week two!
(And next week will actually be 7 days..oops!)

What does everyone think of my challenge? Silly? Pointless? Hard? Fun?

Challenge accepted

Last week it was my birthday.  I'm officially ..old enough (I'm just under 30). My best bud, Victoria of The Unconventional Makeup Junkie and I (along with my mini me) went on a Sephora run.  It was rainy on the 27th, and Sephora always cheers me up.  I went looking for nothing in particular.  Just something.  I mentioned to Victoria how amazing she looked, and how she always looks put together.  I work retail, and she works in an office, so for her , makeup is a daily ritual.  She wears neutrals to work, and goes all out on the weekends.  Theres an ongoing debate between her and I.  Since I work retail I dont feel as great a need to look put together as she does.  "Whats the point of putting on makeup ?! " I always ask.  Her response is always simply "Why not?".  Why not is mostly because unless I'm wearing my blue shirt and khaki's no one really cares what my face looks like.  Its freeing for sure, but at the same time..I dont want to feel like a shlub.

So while we were shopping and talking she said (again) said I should wear makeup every day. It always makes me feel better about myself  and why not? I have enough of it right? This year.  I will wear something every day.  In my head , during the conversation,  I heard this:

So that challenge is to wear something makeupish every day.  Theres no rules, no penalties, just doing it for the fun of it. Honestly, I want to see if I can.  The only thing I for sure do every day is drink my morning coffee (ok fine.  Tea.  Dont judge me).

I will be documenting what I wear (either with fotd or just pics of my makeup).  Theres no reason to cheat, since it wasnt a formal challenge, and she didnt say how much I had to wear (for instance, since I'm sick today I'm just wearing blush).

Game on Victoria.
