Pantones' Color of the Year 2014!

Can you believe we're talking about 2014 already?!  Time flew!  Before I started blogging I had no idea what Pantone was and what they had to do with colors or cosmetics.  Apparently they are the "color authority" (my words..not theirs..) , and the annual "Color of the Year" influences fashion , cosmetics..etc (thanks wikipedia!).

So what is Pantones Color of the Year for 2014?  Well its..

Radiant Orchid!

This is what the Pantone site says about Radiant Orchid :"An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”(source)

So what does that all mean?  Well It means you're going to see a boat load of purple everywhere next year.  Personally ..I dig purple.  A lot.  A nice shimmery purple does wonders for brown eyes.  To be honest, It'd probably look great on all eyes.  I can see my blue eyed babe rocking purple shadow (when she's 18 and allowed to wear makeup...).  However, you need to be careful, since rocking purple shadow can make you look bruised.  So wear a primer under those eyeshadows!

If you wanted to go really crazy you could also wear purple lipstick or mascara but that's for someone more adventurous then I.  Also obviously their's a multitude of beautiful purple polishes!
