Review! Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Sticks-in Whiteness White & Guilt Grey

Oh Rimmel. You had me..you really did.  Your Waterproof Kohl Kajal liners are the bomb (yeah I said it), and everyone knows already how much I adore your Kate Moss lippies.  But why..oh why..didnt that awesomeness venture over into your shadow sticks?

What Rimmel says" High impact colour Precision tip applicator Ultra soft formula glides on smoothly High-shine and luminous finish" (source)

I've been testing these for a few weeks.  Both of these contain loads of shimmer. I bought Whiteness White to use as a base for shadows.  Unfortunately, its incredibly shimmery, and when I tried to blend out the edges, or use it as a highlight (under the brow) , it sheered out.  Guilt Grey is just blah.  I used it as a lid color, and it was waay too shimmery and hard to blend.  Using it as a liner fared a bit better, but I like smudgey liner, and once again..it was hard to blend.

Lasting power on these are ok.  It lasted about 3/4 hours on me before creasing.

Overall: Unfortunately, these are a complete fail for me.  Whiile the pigmentation was good, the fact that they were hard to blend (and the white sheered out), makes these a no go for me. They do have 9 shades, and a bunch of the other colors are extremely appealing..however, I'm going to pass based on my bad time with them.
Oh Rimmel.  These could have been awesome.

Swatches & First Impressions: Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Sticks

Hello All!

Today I have some swatches and first impressions of two of the New Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Sticks in  Whiteness White, and Guilt Grey.

I'm going to be blunt .  So far, I'm not a fan.  I find them hard to blend, and loaded with glittery shimmer (and at 28 that's not what I'm going for).  I like how soft they are , and are super easy to apply, but aside from that, they're not much fun to use.  The NYX shadow pencils i could sheer out and blend (for a semi smokey cat eye).  These however just stick.  So far they seem to last a while, but the gray one creased within a few hours.  The white I thought would make a great base for shadows ..which it would have if it hadnt been loaded with shimmer.

Review! New from Rimmel! New Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Brown

Hello Lovelies!  How are you all? I'm doing good. I've finally found an eyeliner that I adore, and I'm here to share it with you.

New from Rimmel for 2013- Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal (in brown).  Now, oddly the brown isn't on the Rimmel London site, however it says 10 colors and shows 8 so brown is one, and I'm curious about the other missing color. Nevertheless here's what Rimmel says about their Kohl Kajal.
"Long lasting shocking color intensity with kohl Britania*High intensity color for an instant color impact*Ultra smooth & creamy formula that glides on easily*Waterproof, smudge-proof, sweat-proof, heat-proof, humidity-proof and scandal- proof*Dermatologist & ophthalmologist tested. Safe for sensitive eyes." (source)

As most of you all know by now, I'm a glasses wearer.  I used to wear contacts until one day at work..well..I'll spare you the details, but I got a wicked eye infection (perk of working in a pharmacy), so I decided that glasses were the way to go.  Since that is the case, I have to get thisclose to the mirror to apply any sort of eye makeup aside from mascara.  I usually would just skip lining my lower lash line   Too much work, could never get it quite right. However, I realized I liked the way my eyes were defined, and decided to work through my eyeliner collection to find the right one.  "Maybe its the eyeliner and not me" I thought.

Then this came out and rocked my eyeliner world.

This is unbelievably soft.  It can be smudged (if you do it quickly before it sets), and is incredibly long wearing.  Waterproof? Actually yes.  It didn't last quite as long on my waterline as I would have liked (only about 3 hours), but I did take a shower with it on my lower lash line only, and it was still there.  This eyeliner happens to have a small bit of gold shimmer in it.  Its not hugely noticeable though, and didn't irritate my eyes at all when worn on my waterline or lower lash line.

On the whole this lasted me about 6 hours before I saw any fading. I cant get over how soft this is! Its smooth and glides like a dream. I love this on the upper or lower lash line  and while it wasn't great on the waterline, it does make for a great day to day eyeliner.  Not something where you'll be out all night, but good for an 8 hour workday.

For only 4.49 @ Ulta - I'm definitely picking up the dark blue and purple!

Review! New ScandalEyes Mascara by Rimmel

This is the the third and final installment of my New Rimmel Reviews (unless something else new comes out;)) . Though, I haven't heard of anything, if anyone does..let me know:)  Till then on to my review!

I admit, I was wary about trying this.  I hadn't had much luck thus far with the Rimmel things I'd tried.  Read my reviews for the eyeshadow, and lipstick here.  However, I am a trooper and in the interest of beauty blogging (its a tough world..;)  I forged ahead.

The Mascara itself promises to "Capture and Plump every lash!".  Its got a "Max Density brush that covers the entire lash line to reveal and plump every lash" and the formula contains "3x collagen and keratin".

Packaging: Now, keep in mind, I'm a newbie beauty blogger, and silly me, I lost the picture of the mascara in its packaging.  However, it basically came as it looks above, with the box around it.  I actually like how the top spins and has a little click shut, however, like I said, it came as shown above.  I have a problem when mascaras are packaged with the brush in the tube already.  As soon as you put the brush in the tube, oxygen gets in , and it starts to go bad (after many many months..but still).  I like knowing my mascara is fresh.  How do I know when these were sent out? who knows.

Consistency: The formula itself is actually really nice.  Its not super wet, but its also not really thick.

Brush: Whoh. Another beastly and intimidating brush

(whoh dude)

I have to admit, I was a bit shocked at the size of the brush, but intrigued nonetheless.  However, it did do what Rimmel claimed.  It got in there, and coated every lash.  The brush went through smoothly, and I didnt experience any clumping.  You can do 2/3 coats without any clumping if you don't let it dry between coats.  If you do like letting it dry, then you're going to be in clump city.

Performance: I actually was pleasantly surprised, and really liked this mascara.  It didn't give me ginormous volume, but more then I get with a lot of my other mascaras.  I also experienced length too, but the volume-yeah baby!  I generally go for volume since I'm a glasses wearer.  I didn't experience any flaking or clumping throughout the day, however, if you're an eye rubber like me, then you will.  Towards the end of the night, I had some flakes since I had rubbed my eyes (forgetting I was wearing mascara-oops).  Removal was also very easy.  Just a few swipes of the makeup removing wipes, and done.

Overall: Overall I was pleasantly surprised by this mascara. It doesn't give a huge amount of volume, but definitely much more then average.  I didn't experience any clumping, or flaking (unless I rubbed my eyes), and it held a good curl throughout the day.  While I was unhappy that the brush came packaged already in the mascara itself, I'm willing to overlook it because it performs really well.

I give it: 4/5

All opinions here expressed are my own.
