Review! New Maybelline Superstay 14hr Lipstick!

Well played Maybelline. Bringing a devout Covergirl fan to the dark side..and making me fall in love. Darn you! Nah. Just kidding. But seriously. Maybelline upped their game this year, and I must say. Me likey. They have 9 new products coming out this year (nine!) and that's just what I see on their website.  So far, I've reviewed one of them-the new Color Tattoo Eyeshadows, and I was incredibly impressed (and left me wanting to get more).  Now I'll be reviewing their Superstay 14hr Lipstick. Maybelline describes it as: "14HR Lipstick with an ultra-lightweight formula: • Stays fresh, light, and comfortable • Super rich color that lasts for 14 hours • Pigments are enveloped in a longwearing system"    I chose 012-Pout on Pink.

(ohhh ahhh..)

(yes..despite how they look different, this is the same lipstick in direct sunlight)

Packaging: Cute little travel friendly lipstick tube. The clear bottom is a very good representation of what you're going to get-so have no fear. They are not sealed in stores however, which is a downside for me. The rack I picked this up from was picked over, and you could tell many had been tested. However, the tube itself is secure, so no worries about keeping it in your makeup bag.

Color: Its a midtone rosy, pinkish color. The best way to describe it is a "My lips but better with a hint of shimmer" look. Or, just check out my swatch.

(pretty color, but whoh..pale arm..)

Performance: When first applying, it applies very smoothly , and feels creamy.  After a few moments, it dried, and my lips felt very dry.  Its definitely not "lip smackable".  However, the lipstick is a beautiful color, and had a nice shine to it. A light touch of lip balm , and my lips were fine! I loved the color.  I tested this baby out for 14hrs and I was very pleasantly surprised-It actually lasted!  I know what you're thinking "No way..".  Yes way.  Yes..it did fade, and wasn't as bright, but it definitely didn't qualify as a stain, since I could still feel the product on my lips.  The key is to waiting about 5min  before going off and eating or drinking.  It didn't transfer onto anything.  I had pizza, Chinese food , tea, soda everything. In fact, I could barely get it off my arm.

(Get it off!-soap and water attempt)

The ONE thing I HAVE to mention though is that it has a fragrance.  This is the first time I've used a lipstick that actually had a fragrance.  It smelled like a very sweet candy.  It also take a while to go away.  I couldn't figure out what it was at first, but then I was like.."Oh..dude..its the lipstick".  It lingered for probably at least 20 min or so.  I'm not too sure how much longer, since I'd become accustomed to it after a while. So if you're someone who is sensitive to smells, I would not recommend this

Overall: Overall this is a very very good lipstick.  It definitely lasts the 14hrs (though it does fade, it actually stays on a full 14hrs). The pigmentation is great, and has a nice subtle shine.  There is a fragrance however, and it does leave your lips feeling a bit dry (though lip balm helps). So if you're sensitive to cosmetics with a fragrance, do not pick this up.

--I give this: 4/5-The fragrance is what kept it from getting a perfect score
--All opinions here are my own.
--I bought this.
