Swatches! Wet n Wild Fergie Summer 2013 Limited Ed. Collection! Shades of the Hamptons & Newport Nights!

Whew! Try to say that blog title 3x fast ;)

Recently I picked up the two WnW  Fergie Limited Ed. eyeshadow palettes and I wanted to share the swatches with you as fast as I could (in case you come across them).

*This isnt a full review.  Just some swatches and my first impressions (I try to not review things that I know are limited edition, since they're hard to find, and not everyone can pick them up.

Shades of the Hamptons & Newport Nights

Shades of the Hamptons

Newport Nights

Direct sunlight- Newport Nights

Indoor light Newport Nights

Shades of the Hamptons (indoor)

*Both palettes are swatched over bare skin/no primer
*I included two swatches of Newport Nights because of how extremely light and sheer they are.

The eyeshadows in both palettes are soft and powdery.  I haven't tried any other Fergie palettes (so I cant compare these to the other Fergie palettes) , however I will say  the shadows are not up to par with the 8 pan shadows they have.  WnW 8 pans have excellent pigmentation, are smooth, and not too hard or soft.  These were soft, powdery and slightly chalky.  Not the worst I've seen, but not what I expect from WnW.  Both palettes appear to be satin.  Not quite matte, not quite shimmery.

Newport Nights is obviously the sheerer of the two, and the shadows were a bit harder.  The middle "F" of Newport Nights is the most pigmented of all the shadows and has some gold glitter thrown in.

Shades of the Hamptons is definitely better of the two palettes.  They had much better pigmentation, and weren't as hard.  However they were still a bit powdery .  3/5 shadows had pretty good pigmentation.  The pink shade (top right), and the center gold shade were the worst pigmentation wise.  Happily, the blue shades and the green were pretty good!

Overall: Both palettes had a powdery chalky texture.  They're beautiful but some shades were lacking in the pigment department.  If you had to get one, I would definitely say to pick up Shades of the Hamptons.

*I picked these up for 4.99 each-however they had 1$ off stickers, and Walgreens had a Buy one/Get one 50% off sale

Quickie Swatch! Loreal Infallible Eyeshadow "With a Twist" from the Miss Candy Collection *Limited Edition*

I came across this last week when I set out on an adventure with my daugher N.  We were on our way home and hopped into a CVS to get a few drinks, and I saw this.  The moment I spied the collection (and this purple) I knew it had to be mine!

It has a slight blue sheen that you can kind of see in the pics.  I find the formula on this a bit drier then the other Infallible shadows I have.  However, like the rest, this is perfectly pigmented in one swipe.  I have plans for this ..so I'll be able to test the wear soon.

This is Limited Edition, so if you see it pick it up! (you can always return it later..).

Quickie Swatch! Maybelline's New Dream Sun bronzing powder glow

Hello all! I have a quickie swatch for you today!  Its Maybelline's Dream Sun bronzing powder glow.  Normally I wont put stuff on here that's limited ed, but the display popped up at my local Walgreens with some LE Eyeliners, and liquid bronzer, so I'm sure you all will be seeing these soon (if you haven't already).

I haven't tested this yet, but it does have a bit of a sheen to it (not glitter) and looks a bit orange when swatched on my arm..so we'll have to see how that translates to the face.

My Favorites Blushes of the Year!

I originally intended to do one HUGE post with all my favorites..however to give everything the *love* it deserves, I've decided to split them up.  So first up -Blush!

From left to right: Covergirl's Trublend Minerals blush in Pure Romance, Happy Booster blush in Natural and Rose. The bottom row has Maybelline Fit Me! blush in Light Nude, and Loreal's Project Runway (Limited Ed.) Sultry Raven's Blush (725).

~Covergirl Trublend Minerals Blush in Pure Romance: This was actually the subject of my very first Love Rant.   I wear this blush practically every day, and I'm still not halfway done with the container.  It gives a light pink glow to my cheeks, and is practically mistake proof. It doesnt irratate my skin either..which as I've gotten older, has become more sensitive.

~Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Natural, and Rose: Yes. I have both-and they're amazing. First off, I love the fragrance.  Anyone who opens the container cant help but go "Hmmm..." The Rose comes off a bit dark on my cheeks, but still looks great..especially during winter.  It gives me that "Just came in from the cold" flush, which..doesnt look half bad;)  The Natural, well..hey.  Its natural.  Its pigmented, but not super heavy.  What I love most is that I can wear this to work, and not look like I'm trying to hard..I look put together. Plus the fragrance it has dissipates quickly..so its not like anyone can walk up and say "Happy booster blush?"

~Fit Me! Blush in Light Nude by Maybelline: I wrote about this briefly in my birthday post to Maybelline.  This is the other blush I alternate with the CG.  It goes on very very light and smooth on my cheeks.  Sometimes I have to tap my blush brush more then once to get enough color, however that's not such a bad thing.  Blush is easy to overdo, and if youre fair skinned, you can come off clownish (which I've done..and is not cool).  The color is a mix of nude, and pink, so its a bit different then my other blushes.  Its also super affordable, so I'm not terrified of hitting the pan for this one. Its a good beginner blush.

~ Loreal's Project Runway (Limited Ed.) Sultry Raven's Blush (725): This is one of those things where I had good intentions to blog and do a review about it, and lost track of time.  However, I do have the photos I took of it so I will share them here.

Its a gorgeous mid toned pink!! it'll work on all skin tones, and is silky and smooth.  Unfortunatly I dont think they're available anymore since it was limited ed, but the blush is still gorgeous, and one of my favorites.  This is one I save for special occasions, since once its gone..its gone.

So there you have it! My favorite Blushes of the year! What are yours?

Review! Wet n Wild Color Icon Mineral Shadows (Limited Ed.)

Ahhh my gosh. I blame this all on Nouveau Cheap.  In my opinion shes one of the best drug store beauty bloggers out there  and I wanted this right after I read her post.  This post is on the Wet n Wild Limited Edition Coloricon Baked eyeshadows (*phew..try to say that 3x fast..*) .  Her review was a total lemming for me..and this isnt the first time.  First it was the Nuance Beautiful Blends eyeshadow Quad, now its these, and once again, I was NOT dissappointed.

These eyeshadows are sold exclusively at Walgreens, and are supposed to be a part of a Beauty Bar.  Mine (in Westchester County NY), didnt have the display-they were loosely displayed on a shelf.  They had all 3, but I picked up the 2 I was most likely to actually use.  I picked up Bake off Contest (which is a nice batch of neutrals), and Baked not Fried , which is a nice pallet of blues.  Each pallet comes with 6 eyeshadows, and a complimentary eyeliner.  First up! Pictures of the gorgeous shadows!

(Baked not fried)

(Bake off contest)

Pretty awesome right?  Yup.  The great thing about baked eyeshadows are that they can be used wet or dry You get a better color payoff with a wet eyeshadow brush, but I liked using them dry since they were easier to blend together.

Packaging:
Oh Wet n Wild..you have such a great product..why..WHY did you package them so crappily?  Number one..theres no imprint of a name or anything on the back of the Pallet..which makes things very confusing.  Also, and worse, is that the top comes completely off! Theres NO hinge or anything to keep the cover on, which will make things very difficult for traveling (and more then once I almost dropped the whole thing).

Color:
The colors are amazing! I didnt swatch them (I know ..bad beauty blogger) , but trust me, theyre gorgeous.  As I said before, they can be used wet or dry.  Dry is easier to blend and you get sheerer color; and wet you get a much more vibrant , brighter, shimmery color.

Performance:
The colors are vibrant, and blendable, and very wearable.  They do crease after 3/4 hrs without primer, so I would suggest using one underneath. Wet or dry, they perform great, and this is a great batch of shadows.  You will need your own eyeshadow brush though, since they dont come with one (however, fingers work well too!).  I love that even with the creasing, the colors didnt fade at all! The lovely bronze color was just as bronze as when I put in on, as well as the beautiful sky blue. The eyeliners were just meh.  But, lets face it ..youre not buying it for the eyeliners..haha.

Overall:
I'm VERY happy with this pallet! People can wear blue again!  Many people are afraid to wear blue "too 80's" is what I hear almost constantly.  Not anymore.  I did my eyes using (dry), the light blue shade (First on the bottom row in my pic) as a lid color, then the black and blue shade in the crease (looks like earth..), and then a non shimmery highlight brow shade (I used WnW Color icon single in Brulee).  Its not overwhelming, or too "BAM in your face" blue .  My husband (who normally doesnt notice anything I put on my face) , even commented on how pretty my eyes were.  If you have brown eyes, check these out.
For 4.99$ at Walgreens these cant be beat! Pick yours up now before theyre gone!

I give it 4/5 (would have been a 5 if not for flimsy packaging).
