Starting Off Project: Foundation

Hello all!  For the next few weeks I'll be involved in the "Starting off" Project.  This project was the brainchild of Steph over at Steph's Inside Voice, and its aim is to give tips to  makeup newbies just starting out.

This week is all about Foundation!

Foundation is used to help even out skintone, hide blemishes, and give your face a uniform look.  Foundations run the gamut from sheer , where your freckles and blemishes are visible, to full , where even the tiniest imperfection is hidden.

I like to have sheer to medium coverage foundation.  Nothing super heavy, just enough to even out my skintone and lighten the freckles on my face.

You can apply foundation in many different ways.  For liquids you can use your fingers, brushes or sponges.  For powder foundations, you can use brushes or sponges.  I prefer to use a buffing brush for liquid, and kabuki brush for powder.  Brushes can be bought almost anywhere!  A great budget brand is Real Techniques and Ecotools.  However in Sephora they have a range of higher end brushes.

These two foundations are my favorites!

(Left: MUFE Pro Finish Multiuse Powder)
(Right: UD Naked Skin Foundation)

I like these two foundations for different reasons.  When I'm looking for something light to go out  and run errands in, I use the powder foundation (left).  When I need something with a little more coverage, I use the UD foundation.  Both foundations are light that can be built up to medium coverage.  I wrote a full review of the MUFE foundation HERE.

Find out more about the foundations here!

  2. Have you tried the L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder foundation? I've heard so much about it and would love to try it, but was hoping to find some good reviews of it first.

    Great blog by the way!

    1. I havent tried the new Loreal Magic Nude ...foundation. I have seen a few reviews on it, and I'm a little wary since it looks like it might be cakey. Musingsofamuse has a great review on it here (http://www.musingsofamuse.com/2013/06/loreal-magic-nude-liquid-powder-review-swatches.html).

Thank you for showing my blog some love! I love the name of your blog btw! Its awesome! (i'm now following you as well!)
