Guest Post! SirenV Reviews MAKE UP FOR EVER's Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation (Shade 35)

Hello all!  Today I have a guest post from SirenV.  She recently bought a new foundation, and was kind enough to do a review for us here.  Lets all welcome SirenV *Applause*

I was in the market for a new foundation recently. A family member of mine was getting married, and I went to Sephora with my mom and sister for a tutorial on how to do the smoky eye look. (If you're looking for help on that, I would serious recommend going there. They are wonderful and very helpful.)

Anyways, I was looking for a foundation that would work with my oily skin. I have tried numerous foundations for oily skin, the most recent being the Neutrogena shine control. They worked, well, ok. Neutrogena was the best out of the drug store brands I would normally buy. But, since it was my brother getting married, I wanted to look especially nice. So, while at Sephora, they told me about the Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet foundation that is not only oil free, (Yes!), but it is also water resistant. I decided that it was time to buy my very first Sephora foundation.

Sehora describes it as:

"A skin controlling, oil-free, water-resistant, complete coverage liquid foundation. Hides imperfections, even our skintone, and mattifies with a non-oily, perfectly powedered finish. The result is flawless and lasts for hours. " Source

 Packaging:
I prefer bottles that I can squeeze when it comes to my foundation. My long term foundation for a while was Maybelline Dream Mousse foundation, came out of a can, and then I used the Neutrogena foundation, above, which Gin has mentioned in previous posts that the packaging was kind of difficult. So I really liked this. When I originally went to Sephora, they didn't have my color, so they gave me a sample. I still have the sample jar which I squeeze the foundation into, and then use a foundation brush.

(blended)

It looks well blended here, but in perfect lighting the foundation is a touch too light. The powder I use is my shade, so it actually brings nice color to my face.

Performance:
As I said before, Ive used shine control foundations before, but they always seemed to lack long-term wear. Neutrogena would look shiny after a couple of hours at work, which it had no business doing when I sit at a desk 8 hours a day.

This works wonders for keeping my shiny skin down, and keeping me flawless for hours on end. The day of the wedding, I used a bare minerals primer that gave me extra matte look. I get well over eight hours of wear out of this.

Overall:
I'm in love with this foundation. It lasts long and gives me a wonderfully flawless matte look that I have not been able to achieve with other foundations. This foundation retails for about $36,  you get 1.01 oz of foundation.   Using a foundation brush, I find I use less then I normally would if I used my fingers.  With a little over an oz of product, this should last you a long time

  1. Hi! Stumbled upon you from Think Outside the Blog. I started using Proactiv a few months ago and notice that my nose gets WAY shinier during the day than it used to. I've tried different foundations but it's hard to find one that works well enough! Might have to give this one a try.

    1. :) Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate all those that take the time to read my humble blog. According to my friend SirenV who wrote this post, she swears by this, and we both have super oily skin. I'm going to have to give this a try myself!
