Hot for Navy eyeliner!

Navy  eyeliner is going to be hot for fall and winter.  I love navy eyeliner because its neutral enough to be worn every day , but is still able to give eyes a little pop.

Here are some of my favorite eyeliners!

*Rimmel Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Deep Blue:  Beautiful Navy blue.  Stays all day!

*Loreal Infallible Shadow in Midnight Blue.  Took a couple of swipes, but this lasts all day long and and shimmery blue goodness.

(swatches of Rimmel (top), and Loreal Infallible (bottom))

Here are also some Navy eyeliners (that I unfortunately I dont own..but maybe will soon ;-)

(Urban Decay eyeshadow in Evidence)

(Sephora Jumbo Liner 12hr Waterproof in Marine) ($14)

Eyeshadows are great as eyeliners because they can be subtle and smudgy , or bold!  You can also use eyeshadow to set your normal liner.  Urban Decay is a great go-to brand for eyeliners and shadows that last all day, and the Sephora Jumbo liner..well I've been spouting my love for them for a while.

Sephora Jumbo Liner ($14)
Urban Decay Shadow ($18)
Urban Decay Glide on Pencil ($19)
Loreal Infallible shadow ($8.99)
Rimmel Kohl Kajal ($5.49)

You need to pick this up! New Covergirl "Ink it! (by Perfect Point Plus)" Eyeliners in Aquamarine Ink & Cocoa Ink (Review and Swatches!)

I'm super excited to be reviewing this right now!  Its new Covergirl "Ink it" eyeliners in Aquamarine, and Cocoa ink.

When I first heard about these, I knew I had to pick them up and try them...however knowing the record of my Walgreens about getting new stuff in..I decided to not hold my breath.  Until one day I walked in (literally 2 days after I heard about them from Nouveau Cheap ), and I saw this:

My eyeballs almost popped out of my head at that very moment.

How can you not be drawn in by this display?!  LOOK at that eyeliner!  Look at that blue!  Us brown eyed babes appreciate a good blue eyeliner/eyeshadow.  It really makes our brown eyes pop (granted the model has hazel eyes..but whatever).

So, of course I picked up the blue, and brown shade.  Black is too harsh for me, and gray accentuates my under eye bags..so brown is now my go to .  How did they fare?  Well..first the pics!

Before I get to the color..first lets talk about wear time, and what is promised.  For some unknown reason, CG doesn't have these on their site yet, but the display says " Bright bold liner that lasts!  / Get inked! Stay inked all day!"

All day eh? I've seen a lot of drugstore eyeliners promise that.  So far the only failsafe I've found is milani shadow pencils (which i use as liner).  I decided to put these through the ringer.  I chose a couple of hot, humid, muggy days.  I applied these at 12 (easier to count hours that way..), and checked on them at 10 when I got home from work.

Holy hallways batman..they were still on.

Yes.  Still on.  Slight transfer into my crease, but it wasn't a huge brown or blue line in my crease.  I tried them without any primer on about 4 hot days (and a couple of warm days in between), and these completely kicked my oily lids butt.  At the 8 hour mark, my eye makeup wasnt perfect, but it didn't need a touchup.  At t0 hours, it definitely showed fading, but it was kind of smokey and smudgey (this is for both the blue and brown eyeliner..they both performed the same).

Once these set..they set.  I tried smudging them on my arm, and it was a no-go for both.
The point on them is a square point.  Its very soft however so you don't poke yourself in the eye, and texture wise they're not as tough as the other Perfect Point eyeliners I've used in the past.

Color:  The only downside!  The brown was a beautiful matte brown.  Perfect.  Soft and pigmented in one glorious swipe! Oh Aquamarine..why?!  It was definitely not what I had expected looking at the display. Its a light lighter, less vibrant and required more then one pass to opacity.  I love it still because it's the perfect blue for summer, however I was hoping for something closer to the the display picture.  The aqua shade also has a hint of glitter, but its nothing major.

Overall: Yes you must try these!  Affordable long lasting drugstore liners!  Perfect for waterlining, or a winged look.  The blue isn't as vibrant as hoped, but its beautiful and performed great nonetheless.

Review! Milani Ultra Fine Liquid Eyeliner in Black Vinyl (01)

Hello all!  Time for another eyeliner review!  Excited? I know I am! This one isnt half bad!

What Milani says: "Sparkling intense color, long-lasting, waterproof formula.   The ultrafine felt-tip applicator makes it easy to apply a thick or thin line and dries down to a sparkling finish. Black also available in a vinyl finish!" (Source)

Sounds good. I'll bite.  Besides-I was impressed with the marker style eyeliner that Milani put out (minus the rubbing away...whyy??!), so I decided to give this a go..and .its pretty good!

Ready for some pictures?

This eyeliner is excellent! Its completely opaque in one coat!  Yay! Its also incredibly long wearing, which I was surprised at .  The only problem is that it takes about 15sec to dry (which is forever in eyeliner time).  When I applied this to my left eye, and opened it right away, I had a nice transfer into my crease.  However, with a little patience , I was able to apply this to my other eye, waited a bit, and voila! No transfer!

As for the wear time-it was excellent.  It lasted all day me!  Removal was also super easy.  It comes off easily with makeup remover (it sort of flakes off ..which is weird).

Overall: These are excellent and well worth your pennies!  I cant wait to try the other colors (turquoise anyone?)

Quick Swatch! Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Mushroom!

Urban Decay recently came out with 28 new eyeliner shades!  When I stopped into my local Ulta with my sister in law, I realized I had to pick up at least one..and so while it was hard, I finally chose Mushroom.

(Indirect sunlight)

(Indoors)

Urban Decay describes this as a "metallic taupe with pewter shimmer".  The shimmer is super subtle.  This is great for an every neutral eye, or for the lower lashline.  I'm so happy I picked this up!  All of my UD eyeliners have lasted all day without creasing or fading.

I'm definitely picking up more of these...

An Eyeliner I almost loved. Review & Swatch! Milani Eye Tech Bold Liquid Liner in Black

Hello all!  Time for another review!  This time its an eyeliner! (A liquid one at that!) I'll wait a few moments for the shock to wear off.

............
............

Ok... I dont know about anyone else, but I'm into the super thick eyeliner look.  I have hooded eyes, and as a glasses wearer, sometimes its hard to bring (good) attention to the eyes.  Plus, lets be honest..thicker eyeliner on the upper lid if you mess it up..is easier to hide.

I'm just being honest here people.

Anyway..here's what Milani says about their new Bold Liquid liner: "The next installment of our best-selling Eye Tech series goes BOLD! The bold felt-tip point creates a variety of dramatic winged looks in one stroke application.  Smear & smudge-proof, this liner lasts all day. Paraben-free."(source)

All sounds awesome..and it was.  Until my town decided to warm up, and I began to sweat a bit..and then...well..I got sad.

First the good!

I've decided that big marker style liquid pens are definitely my thing.  If they can help someone like me (poor hand eye co-ordination..blind w.o her glasses), apply liquid liner..then hell..anyone can do it.  I loved applying this.  I was even able to do winged eyeliner.. YES. I looked awesome!  Not only that, but I was able to do it for 4 days in a row!  The liner isnt completely opaque, but its black enough.  I was able to go over the line and get it darker, and it applied smoothly without tugging.  On the cooler days, this lasted 8 hours with little fading and no smudging.

Then the "warm front" hit (went up to the 60's), and it all went downhill.

I was in the bathroom (admiring my handwork), when I rubbed my eye a bit (oops), and much to my surprise (and sadness!) some of the eyeliner came off! I tried both eyes, and it was undeniable.  If you have oily lids..or if it gets wet ..it will come right off. Easily.  I tested it.  Comes off pretty easily with water.

Granted..it doesnt say "Waterproof".  BUT.  It does say "smear free" and that it "lasts all day".

*I dont understand how it can be sweat and smear free..but be easily removed with soap and water?*

Oh Milani.  You had me.  You so did.  You made me almost able to apply liquid liner.  Why the smearing and rubbing away?!

Overall:  I hate to say this, but I cant recommend this.  As much as I loved how easy it was to apply (I really did love it..), the smearing and rubbing away kills it.  The whole point of liquid eyeliner is that it should last all day (or at least withstand sweat).  If it comes off with a little bit of sweat from 60* weather, things dont look good for when we get into summer and we truly need something long lasting.

Swatches and Impressions! Urban Decay's Smoked Eyeliner Palette

Soooo remember when I said I wouldnt procrastinate anymore? Well, I tried ..but here I am, posting these pics late.  Sigh.. Oh well!  While this Smoked Eyeliner set may not be available from Sephora anymore, it is available from the Urban Decay website..so it shouldnt be too hard to find right?

(L-R: Uzi, Zero, Demolition, Smog, Empire, & Mainline)

(close up of Uzi, Zero,  & Demolition)

(Close up of Smog, Empire, & Mainline)

If you haven't picked this up and you're thinking of ordering from Urban Decay.. definitely give these a try.  They're excellent. Great pigmentation, smooth and last forever!  They're not full size though, they're only .8g of product which is a little more then half the size of the regular pencils (which are 1.2g ) .  However, they pack a big punch.  Its nice to have some variety aside from basic black.  Mainline in particular is a gorgeous teal that I LOVE.

(Comparison-Full size UD eyeliner on top/Demolition on bottom)

Colors: (as described from the UD site)
Uzi: Gunmetal taupe w/silver micro-glitter
Zero: Zealous black
Demolition: Deep brown matte
Smog: Copper *New Shade
Empire: Dark eggplant satin
Mainline: Dark green/blue matte *New Shade

Have these? Picked them up yet?
