You need to pick this up! New Covergirl "Ink it! (by Perfect Point Plus)" Eyeliners in Aquamarine Ink & Cocoa Ink (Review and Swatches!)

I'm super excited to be reviewing this right now!  Its new Covergirl "Ink it" eyeliners in Aquamarine, and Cocoa ink.

When I first heard about these, I knew I had to pick them up and try them...however knowing the record of my Walgreens about getting new stuff in..I decided to not hold my breath.  Until one day I walked in (literally 2 days after I heard about them from Nouveau Cheap ), and I saw this:

My eyeballs almost popped out of my head at that very moment.

How can you not be drawn in by this display?!  LOOK at that eyeliner!  Look at that blue!  Us brown eyed babes appreciate a good blue eyeliner/eyeshadow.  It really makes our brown eyes pop (granted the model has hazel eyes..but whatever).

So, of course I picked up the blue, and brown shade.  Black is too harsh for me, and gray accentuates my under eye brown is now my go to .  How did they fare?  Well..first the pics!

Before I get to the color..first lets talk about wear time, and what is promised.  For some unknown reason, CG doesn't have these on their site yet, but the display says " Bright bold liner that lasts!  / Get inked! Stay inked all day!"

All day eh? I've seen a lot of drugstore eyeliners promise that.  So far the only failsafe I've found is milani shadow pencils (which i use as liner).  I decided to put these through the ringer.  I chose a couple of hot, humid, muggy days.  I applied these at 12 (easier to count hours that way..), and checked on them at 10 when I got home from work.

Holy hallways batman..they were still on.

Yes.  Still on.  Slight transfer into my crease, but it wasn't a huge brown or blue line in my crease.  I tried them without any primer on about 4 hot days (and a couple of warm days in between), and these completely kicked my oily lids butt.  At the 8 hour mark, my eye makeup wasnt perfect, but it didn't need a touchup.  At t0 hours, it definitely showed fading, but it was kind of smokey and smudgey (this is for both the blue and brown eyeliner..they both performed the same).

Once these set..they set.  I tried smudging them on my arm, and it was a no-go for both.
The point on them is a square point.  Its very soft however so you don't poke yourself in the eye, and texture wise they're not as tough as the other Perfect Point eyeliners I've used in the past.

Color:  The only downside!  The brown was a beautiful matte brown.  Perfect.  Soft and pigmented in one glorious swipe! Oh Aquamarine..why?!  It was definitely not what I had expected looking at the display. Its a light lighter, less vibrant and required more then one pass to opacity.  I love it still because it's the perfect blue for summer, however I was hoping for something closer to the the display picture.  The aqua shade also has a hint of glitter, but its nothing major.

Overall: Yes you must try these!  Affordable long lasting drugstore liners!  Perfect for waterlining, or a winged look.  The blue isn't as vibrant as hoped, but its beautiful and performed great nonetheless.

Review! Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder

Hello all!  Time for a pressed powder review!  Its Revlon's Nearly Naked Pressed Powder.

What Revlon says: ""Undetectable coverage. Unbelievable complexion. Makeup so refreshingly light it melts right in, creating a fresh, even look. Pressed powder blends seamlessly with a lightweight feel." (source)

I'll be honest..I bought this to replace my Neutrogena Pressed Powder.  I tossed this in my purse, and completely forgot about it.  However, it's been rediscovered, and I've been using it for about two weeks..and I must say.  I'm in love.

I didn't expect to love it as much as I do, but I do.  It really is so incredibly light.  It doesn't clog my pores, or irritate my skin, or break me out.   It evens it out ever so lightly, and really does make my face look fresh.  I've used a powder brush with this (I hate the applicator it comes with), and its amazing.  It kept me shine free for about 4 hours on a blazing hot day, and was great for touching up..

Overall: Its a win! You must try this if you're in the market for a new pressed powder!

Finally a foundation that is for us Oily skinned babes! A Review! Covergirl's New 3-in-1 Outlast Foundation in Ivory

*Before I start my review, I do want to state that I did receive this for free from bzzagent.  However all opinions are my own*

Hello all! I have a new foundation to share with you all today!  Covergirl's new Outlast 3-in-1 foundation.  Its touted as a foundation / primer/concealer in one!  I've been using this for about 4 weeks I'm ready to state my review!

Covergirl says: "All-in-one foundation with a long-lasting formula that fuses primer, concealer, and foundation in one easy step! The 3-in-1 formula provides a flawless look that lasts all day long." (source)

Coverage: The coverage for this foundation is definitely on the medium side.  I was worried when I first started applying it, that it would feel like a super heavy mask-but it didn't!  I could feel it on my face, but it wasn't heavy at all.  Its touted as being a concealer, and I must stay that it does conceal really well.  I definitely didnt need to use another concealer with this.

Color:  I received (and bought) the lightest shade (805 Ivory).  When its first applied, its a good match for my cool/light skintone, however as usually happens with CG starts to oxidize.  Not much, but  enough where I could tell.

Performance:  This is awesome.  On my oily skin (without powdering afterwards), it lasted through the heat and sweat for about 5 hours.  When its set with powder (for me), it lasted all day!  I loved the look this gave me.  It did a great job of concealing my bags and evening out my skintone.  However- since it is thicker It did settle into some lines, and pores.

Application:I've applied this using my Real Techniques flawless face brush, my UD good karma brush, AND my Real Techniques stippling brush, and I can safely say that the UD Good Karma brush, and the Flawless Face brush gave me the best looks.  The ability to buff with the UD brush made it so I was able to really blend and even everything out.  The stippling brush didn't apply the foundation as evenly .

Overall: Excellent foundation! Great for oily skin! Evens out my skintone, conceals most really is a 3 in 1!

Review! Neutrogena's New Moisturesmooth Color Stick in Sweet Watermelon

Hello all! Quick review of Neutrogena's new Moisturesmooth Color Stick in Watermelon.

What Neutrogena says:"NEUTROGENA® MoistureSmooth Color Sticks instantly moisturize lips, while continuously conditioning them so they are softer and smoother in just 3 days with nothing on them. Made with fruit extracts along with mango and shea butter, the balm-like formula glides on easily, providing a sheer wash of moisturizing color that lasts for hours. In addition, the twist up package allows for perfect application each time – with no sharpener needed. "(source)

(blurry-but taken to try to show the glitter)

(lip swatch!)

This wasnt a win for me, however it's not a bad product.

The Moisturesmooth Colorstick is a chubby stick along the lines of Cliniques, Covergirl's and Revlon's.  I've tried Revlon's and Covergirl's and when compared to those two, the Neutrogena one is definitely the most moisturizing of the 3.  For me, there were two turn offs.  One was the glitter.  I was surprised when I noticed it, however I could have dealt with it if it wasn't for the weird waxy taste.  I'm not sure if I just got a bad batch, or not, but to me the waxy taste was too much.  It lingers and while it kept my lips shiny and smooth, I didn't enjoy the taste of it.

The color to me doesnt remind me of watermelon, however, I do like the color (its a "my lips but better").  I may exchange it for the same shade (maybe I got an older one?).  It lasted about 2/3 hours on me before fading to a very faint stain.

Overall: I would have enjoyed it more without the waxy taste.  If it didnt have that, then I'd love this and use it all summer. Good for those who want a sheer wash of color, with lots of shine (and some reapplying).

Has anyone else tried this? Is the waxy taste just me?

Things I've learned that school didn't teach me
  • Common sense.  That just comes with experience
  • How heart tugging motherhood is.  Its not the same as caring for that raw egg
  • Marriage is work! (nuff said)
  • Friendships are work!
  • That work really will involve all that math you thought was useless.

Blog Every Day in May: Rant about something.

The topic said: " Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (a pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbor or boss does that really ticks you off)"

Oh. This is going to be easy.  I work retail (at Walgreens..) , and I've been a loyal employee for 3 years.  I don't always like my job, but I do realize that I'm lucky enough to have one, and so when I go in, I do the best work that I can.

That being really ticks me off the way some people treat us.  Not all customers.  I have quite a few that I truly like, and who come and look for me.  I'm talking about those that ask me questions like (and I'm being serious) "Shouldn't you be in college? Didn't you want to be something?"  Umm. Yes..actually ..I did want to be here I am.  There are people that talk down to us, and treat us like pieces of crap because we work there.  There are also those who are my "favorites" and treat us and talk to us like were unintelligent.  Most of us went to college, and there are a few in college currently   We are not unintelligent.  I had a guy the other day (no lie..) ask me this..just like this : " DO YOU HAVE AANNN IIIRROONNN MAAANNN MMAASSKK".  Iron man mask was all drawn out as if I didnt understand him.  I decided i'd play his game (after I showed him where it was) and say "YOUR WEELLLCOOMMMEEE" just in case he didn't understand me.

I've witnessed my managers (the female ones especially) get cursed out, and called vile names, all because we wouldn't return things, or we didn't have the sale item in stock.  Really? Does it make you feel good to belittle someone because we don't have the 2/5$ soup you wanted?  Is your life that dependendent on making someone else feel like crap , because you know we cant curse you out back?

Retail employees have feelings too.  Despite popular belief  I didn't crop your head off your photo on purpose (i'm a photo tech, and its a common complaint when people print pictures from iphones).  We try our best to give you the best service we can, and the saying "You get more with honey then with vinegar"  is true.  If you treat us kindly and with respect, we'll do the same.  Treating us like crap only makes YOU look bad..not us.  Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.   Imagine how stinky our world would be without garbage men.

We get shat on all day, and cant talk back.  Do you know how much self control and skill that takes?

Think of how you would feel if we walked into your place of business and called you a b*h for something you have no control over?

So in conclusion..please treat everyone with respect.  That now concludes my rant.

Notice a trend here?

  1. bareMinerals Purely Nourishing Moisturizer-Combo Skin : It's got great reviews on, and I need a good moisturizer
  2. Clinique Age Defense BB Cream : Again, its got good reviews, and I love Clinique
  3. Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup: Can always use another oil-free foundation
  4.  Too Faced Air Buffed BB Crème Complete Coverage Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen: This is something I'd try in store first..looks cool..but i'd have to see.
  5. Dr. Jart+ CC Essence Balm: Victoria over at Unconventional Makeup may not be jumping on the CC Cream bandwagon, but I'm curious.  The Dr Jart BB cream I had was amazing, so I would expect nothing less from this
All of these things are on the expensive side, which is why this is a wishlist  (more of a lust list..haha).  What do you wish for?
